Update
I'm sorry that I haven't updated the blog in so long but life got very hectic for awhile...

Here is whats been happening...

Danny and Marley were both adopted into a loving home and after some adjustments by Danny (chirping noises at night...the little stinker;o)), they are both doing very well.

Terra was recently given a lovely lion cut due to mats in her fur. Boy does she look funny! Don't tell her foster mom, Joan, that I said that though. She thinks she looks adorable!:o) Luckily Terra has a friend Adrianna with a matching lion cut so they are not alone.

Laraine actually took a vacation and Joan was kind enough to bring Frankie back into her home. His new high fiber diet helped out as he didn't have as many accidents as when he used to live there. Laraine is going to keep him and have him chipped as he'll be an indoor/outdoor kitty. What a lucky guy! No barn home for him.

Ricky has the asthma to contend with and it worries me so when he starts coughing. He is such a cutie and still gives my nose little bites now and then.

Missy is another little stinker who is always trying to stick her head in my milk glass or snag a bite of my dinner. I seriously was thinking of switching to a sippy cup!

Kenya is a little purr buddy who loooovvvves to play. If I even walk in the general direction of his favorite toy, then he runs to it and looks at me. He does a little chirp too. Bet he got it from Danny.

Thank you everyone for all of your donations and thoughts and prayers!

If anything exciting happens then I will update the blog but for now, that is all the news I have.

Danny
...is now available for adoption. He is such a cutie. Please think about adopting him. Joan & I crack up just by looking at his beautiful face with the tilted ear. When he had to take medicine in the past, he always had the most adorable grimace and sputter...like "ugh that tastes awful, what are they doing to me"

Sadly, Johnny died on Friday...
despite the valiant efforts of Dr. Chris Frye of Mendon Village Animal Hospital. The surgery, donated by Dr Frye, took hours to perform Friday afternoon and was done about 4:30pm. Dr Frye stayed late at the hospital keeping an eye on Johnny but he had still not woken up by 7 pm. Still he did not give up on him. He took Johnny home with him and monitored him with the hopes that he would awake. Unfortunately, Johnny passed away where upon Dr Frye personally called Joan Taber, Johnny's loving caretaker, to let her know the sad news. It is believed that Johnny's death was due to a blood clot.

Thank you to Julie Lowe and Tim Sulenski for raising $185 in honor of Joan and in memoriam to Johnny. They spent many long and hot hours Sunday doing Photos with Santa at Petsmart in Greece.

Another very big thank you to Joan's lifelong friend, Brenda Crandell, for her $150 donation in honor of Joan's efforts. Joan has requested that her donation go to Johnny's vet bill at Mendon.

To view Joan's personal comments and condolences by others, then please go the Habitat for Cats Facebook page.

(These 2 donations were not done through the chipin page so the true amount raised is $795 of $2000 for 39.75%.)

Past week events...
Danny, Terra, Ricky, and Missy were all spayed/neutered including vaccinations on Tuesday and Thursday at County Line Animal Hospital. I was very worried with Ricky's asthma but it was a quick procedure and he was well monitored and not under anesthia for long. Everyone is doing well.

Please say a prayer for Johnny today...

Today is his ear surgery at Mendon Village Animal Hospital. I'll update everyone as soon as I hear anything.

update on Nico comments below
Update, I found out that Nico was agonal breathing when he was brought in. It is a very serious condition with gasping and crying and usually precedes death. He was suffering greatly and dying so the euthinazia was merciful. I know I was questioning why they couldn't try to save him so I wanted you all to know that they simply couldn't.
Nico...
Sadly, Nico got very sick this morning. He had trouble breathing and when he got to the vet's they found his temperature at 94.1. With the experience that cats tend not to survive such a low temperature, it was decided that he should be euthanized.

We all feel awful. To compound our grief, we also realized that we never got a photo of him.

These tears fall for you Nico...I'm so sorry that we couldn't save you and give you the comfort of a forever loving home. Be at peace.

Fri Nov 18th...
Ricky still having trouble breathing so he went back to the vets Monday. He's now on prednisone as they think he may have asthma. He is breathing better overall but still has coughing spells where he is wheezy.

Johnny's ear surgery has finally been scheduled for Dec 16th. The poor guy is so uncomfortable and his ears look and smell bad. Joan is very anxious for this surgery so that Johnny can be healthy and continue being the loving cat he is in a forever home!

Frankie got neutered yesterday. This can sometimes be helpful in eliminating diarrhea issues so we are hopeful.

Danny, Nico, and the gang are doing great with the change in rooms. They are much more social and showing Joan their love.

Kenya is moving into a new room tonight and will now have some more playmates.

Please remember these guys in your prayers!

Updates on all of the cats...
Frankie's other bloodwork came back and it did NOT confirm the diagnosis below...so he doesn't have pancreatis, etc. Vet not sure what is going on nor are we. I got to visit with him for the first time in months and he looked alot better than when he first came to us. His fur has grown back around his head and front but not so much around his back and hindend. Kinda funny looking!

Ricky went back to vets on Wednesday as he was still congested and started coughing again. He's now on Zithromax. Ricky and Missy are a joy to be around and they love to play with their toys and to chase each other.

Kenya is ready for adoption or a new foster home. He is a beautiful loving boy who needs someone to care for him. I hope someone out there will give him a chance.

Danny is also sick. The doxy isn't working so he will either be going on Zithromax or getting a convenia shot.

Marley, Terra, Nico, Danny, and Johnny are moving out of the sunroom and into a heated room tonight.

We are still awaiting word from the vet on when Johnny's ear surgery will be. He really needs to get it done soon as his ears look awful.

Frankie's Ultrasound Results
Poor Frankie...he has so many things wrong with him...

He has pancreatitis and irrital bowel and evidence of a prior liver and kidney infections. He has gallstones.

More bloodwork is being done to confirm today's findings.

The vet didn't offer Laraine much hope that his diarrhea would totally clear up.

Will keep you posted!

Frankie & Johnnie...Danny & Ricky
Frankie is having an ultrasound on Thursday to determine what is causing his issues.

Johnnies bloodwork is fine for surgery so he will be having ear surgery as soon as the vet fits it into his schedule.

Danny has a cold and Ricky has had almost 2 weeks of antibiotics but is still sniffly.

Hoping everyone is healthy soon!
